Four new toys are being recalled for having excessive levels of lead, which violates the federal lead paint standard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can also cause adverse health effects.
The recalled toys include: Thomas and Friends, Curious George, and other spinning tops and tin pails. These items were sold at specialty toy stores and gift shops nationwide from July 2001 through July 2002.
Other items include: Spongebob Square Pants address books and journals. These items were sold at retail stores nationwide from June 2006 through July 2007.
You should also look for Children's Divine Inspiration Charm Bracelets. The bracelets have silver-colored charms with angels, crosses, hearts, and clear and pink beads that hang from the chains. They were sold at Dollar Stores and small retail stores nationwide from March 2004 through August 2007 for one dollar.
TOBY & ME Jewelry Sets are also items of concern. They were sold at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and A.J. Wright from August 2006 through this past May.
If you have any of these items in your home, take them away from your children immediately and return them to the store where purchased.
