North Augusta--For over a decade now, 12 On Your Side has been the name you've known when it comes to getting help with your consumer problems.
Very soon, 12 On Your Side will join forces with a proven group with a lot of consumer assistance experience, so we can help even more.
Call For Action is an international non-profit consumer help agency that has helped millions of people around the country.
And pretty soon, its services will be available to you.
More than a dozen folks will make up the first members of the Augusta branch of Call For Action.
They stopped by the News 12 studios for their first training session last week to learn how they'll be helping you.
"We learned about education in different businesses and what businesses to contact." volunteer Erica Doyle said.
Erica and the rest of the volunteers will be a new tool for you. A new tool that will help get your questions answered and your problems resolved.
Call For Action is built on volunteers in 30 TV and radio stations around the country. The organization itself has more than 40 years of experience with consumer issues.
"We help consumers and we help educate them. We help solve their problems. We're there to listen and lend a friendly ear which is often difficult for consumers to find." Call For Action President Shirley Rooker said.
The volunteers will have their own room complete with their own computers and phones. They'll be taking your calls and will provide not only an ear, but, very often, they'll provide solutions.
Call For Action has a proven track-record of helping people. The organization resolves 90 percent of all cases and saves consumers 30 million dollars in lost goods, services and refunds.
And the volunteers, they are donating their time just to help you.
"Cause I always enjoy helping people and I always enjoy giving back to the community." Erica said.
More volunteers are still needed. If you'd like to volunteer to be a part of the Call For Action team, you can call 1-800-647-1756.
It's a four hour commitment and only one day a week.
