AUGUSTA---Sometimes it's hard to find a specific doctor or maybe more information about a health condition.
A new website is going to make that a whole lot easier on you. It's called www.georgiahealthgolocal.com. And if you need a local doctor, support group or maybe just some medical advice, this is the place to go.
MCGHealth Neurologist Doctor Michael Rivner has been in the medical field for years now. He says there are doctors out there who can help with just about anyone's condition, but people often don't know where to look to find them.
"Often people have trouble knowing what resources are available. A lot of times physicians don't know what resources are available." Dr. Rivner said.
This new website is changing that by helping you find the doctors, facilities and support groups you need. You can search by county or by the specific health issue you need information on.
"Having a website such as this allow people to see the resources. It's very helpful." Dr. Rivner said.
Basically, it condenses a ton of information onto one website. This way you don't have to go scouring the entire internet and making loads of phone calls to get what you need. Now, whether you need help with arthritis or bursitis, this is the place to go. And it's set up to be very user friendly.
"It's designed for that person who is new to the computer and doesn't know where to start." MCG Associate Dean Dr. Kent Guion said.
And that's something Dr. Rivner likes a lot because it will cut down on confusion.
"There are so many resources out there. And unless there was a place to look it up, you might not be able to find them."
