If you're having trouble paying your heating bill, help may be on the way for you.
We've already had several cold nights this winter and it's only January. That means the heating bills are on the rise and many of you may be struggling to get them paid and help could be on the way.
Both Georgia and South Carolina will be given a share of several million dollars in emergency funds to help low-income families pay their energy bills.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program will help more than tens of thousands of eligible families. To be eligible, you have to meet federal poverty guidelines.
You also have to provide a copy of your most recent heating bill and proof of income for the last 30 days.
If you are interested in the program, you can call 706-722-0493 in Georgia. In Aiken County, you can call 803-648-6836.
You can also go to your nearest Community Action Agency.
In some cases, assistance won't be available until February. So call to get all the information. Remember, the most each family can receive is 250 dollars.
