EVANS -- If you're frustrated with your options for health care, you're certainly not alone. 12 On Your Side found there's a new clinic, which may be changing all of that.

It's called MedExpress and it's designed to be a prescription for affordability and convenience.

When it comes to being patient, while being a patient, Mike Sizemore doesn't always have time to do that.

So this time when he got sick, he turned to a new clinic called MedExpress.

"You walk in, see someone quickly and get out the door pretty quickly," Mike said.

MedExpress isn't your ordinary clinic. It treats many common illnesses and minor injuries that might cause you to sit for hours in an ER or traditional doctor's offices.

It's fast and affordable and you'll actually know what you're going to pay before you're treated.

Most people like Mike get out for between $50 and $60 in under an hour. And get this, health insurance is not even accepted.

"When you have insurance and you've got a co-pay, you still have to call the physician's office, make an appointment and maybe you get in and maybe not," Mike said.

MedExpress is staffed by nurse practioners like Claire Gladue who are highly trained and are authorized to diagnose illnesses and write prescriptions to get you on the road to recovery.

"We're increasing health care for indigent persons. Folks who don't have access to health care for various reasons," Claire said.

It's a formula that's worked in many other cities around the country, but it's not meant to replace your family doctor. It's just meant to complement the service your regular doctor can provide.

“We wanted to find an easy way for people to get those easy things taken care of quickly," said MedExpress Medical Director Dr. Fred Merrill.

In a day and age of rising health care costs, it's just another option you have to make sure you can get medical attention when you need it, which is something Mike Sizemore appreciates. "The convenience of a pay-as-you-go clinic; you can get in and get out. It's very easy," he said.

There are many things MedExpress cannot treat you for, but they will refer you to the right places to get you the help you need.
