AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A live mortgage assistance phone bank brought in an estimated 100 calls into News 12's Call for Action Center on Thursday.
SC Help provides three programs to qualified homeowners who have fallen behind in their mortgage payments.
SC Help spokesperson Clayton Ingram says the direct loan assistance program has provided the most assistance. The program provides a one-time payment to bring homeowners current on their first mortgage.
The program has been in existence since 2010. $295 million was awarded under the Treasury's Hardest Hit Fund program.
SC Help is available in all 46 counties in South Carolina. The program has already helped over 6,000 homeowners facing foreclosure or behind in their mortgage to keep their homes.
