AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW)-- "I just popped in and left, I never was in here watching them," said Mary White. A decision White said she now regrets.
White said she paid Doug Hamm, owner of DSH Painting Service of Belvedere $1,500 to replace her kitchen floor and some plumbing. "The floor had water damage," said White.
She said she went with the company because the owner advertised that he had more than 30 years experience and claimed he was licensed bonded and insured.
"Christian-like talking and they did a very good job in the bathroom but in the kitchen is where they messed up," said White.
She said Hamm installed boards for a new kitchen floor but did not put everything back where it was supposed to go. White said her son discovered that after washing a load of clothes. "My son went to plug the dryer up," said White. But there was nothing to connect it to.
"He said momma believe me it's underneath the house. So in order for them to get it they gotta take the floor back up to bring it back to put it on the wall," said White. Right now the only way she can reach the outlet is from the backyard by crawling about 40-yards under the house. It is something she said she is not about to do. White said she asked Hamm to fix the mix up.
"He said they had did all they was gonna do for me," said White. We called and left a message for Doug Hamm but have not heard back. Meanwhile DSH Painting Service is not listed with the Better Business Bureau so we were not able to verify if the company has any customer complaints in the past.
While Hamm never returned our call, Mary White said he called her and said he is going to fix the problem next week.
We did learn that Hamm is licensed but the state of South Carolina said it has no bond on file, although his business card says he is bonded.
