AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Testing of the land mobile radio system at Fort Gordon is set to continue next week, which could cause interference with your garage door openers.

After the testing was first announced on Monday, nearby homeowners reported issues with their garage door openers. Fort Gordon says testing was stopped on Tuesday to make sure residents were aware of the timeline for future testing.

Intermittent testing is scheduled from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. While testing will end next Friday, the system will become permanent on July 15.

Homeowners with garage door openers that are in the 380 to 399.9 MHz range could be affected. The U.S. armed forces is the licensed owner of these frequencies, however, some garage door openers operate on them.

If you have problems with your garage door opener, contact a garage door manufacturer or a local vendor. In some cases, retrofit kits will take care of the problem so that homeowners don't have to buy a whole new unit.
