AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home held a ceremony for fallen soldiers.

The 21 gun salute along with Fort Gordon's U.S. Army Signal Corp Band started the ceremony. Dozens of war veterans braved the heat and lined the courtyard to take part in the ceremony.

Major General Alan Lynn from Fort Gordon was one of the guest speakers along with Georgia Representative John Barrow.

"Those who know what Memorial Day means the most is those who are honored on Veterans Day. To them this is not a faceless, nameless day. It's a buddy who didn't make it home," said Rep. Barrow.

"We're involved in two wars right now. So it's important to remember them and others who are fighting for this great country," Georgia U.S. Attorney Ed Tarver said.

The Fort Gordon Color Guard was also on hand at the ceremony to honor those who lost their lives in war.
