COLUMBIA CTY., Ga. -- A Columbia County family has been fighting a battle for the last six months, but it looks like they will finally have a home.
According to the Gittens' family's Facebook page, they now have a plot of land in Appling.
The Homes for Our Troops president told News 12 the land was recently donated to the family.
Right now there is no official start date to break ground.
Sgt. 1st Class Sean Gittens is an injured veteran. Back in June, his family was about to start construction on a home in the Knob Hill neighborhood, but the neighborhood association said the home didn't meet their covenants.
After a controversy spanning several weeks, the Gittens family decided not to build in the neighborhood and had been looking for a new piece of land nearby.
