GROVETOWN, Ga.---The Fort Gordon Color Guard and Band participated in the Bellevue Memorial Gardens Cemetery Memorial Day observance.
It was a special ceremony held in the chapel to honor loved ones who were killed in battle. Many people explained, even though their loved ones are gone, the service they gave to America will not be forgotten.
"It's a time to celebrate our freedoms, which are given to us by the military, both currently enlisted and retired military who had fought before. It is our time to say 'Thank you' to them," said Diane Springs who is a widow. "This is a time to reflect on everything they've given up so that we can have stuff and they've given up a lot."
Springs hopes everyone keeps servicemembers and their families in mind and remembers the meaning behind Memorial Day.
