NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- Two events are planned in the CSRA this Saturday to collect donations for the victims of Monday's killer twister in Oklahoma.
Volunteers will be collecting monetary donations, gloves and surgical masks.
The first event will be held in front of Connie's Framing at 118 Park Avenue SE during Aiken's Memorial Day Parade. The parade starts at 1 p.m. at the intersection of Union Street and Park Avenue.
Donations will also be accepted from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elko Farmers Market just east of Williston in Barnwell County. Valli Finney, organizer of South Carolinians for Oklahoma Tornado Victims, will also be selling home-baked goods to raise money. If you donate, you'll receive an orange ribbon, donated by Hobby Lobby of Aiken, in honor of Oklahoma. Hobby Lobby's headquarters is in Oklahoma.
The money collected this weekend will go to several different places, including Plaza Towers Elementary School PTA in Moore, Okla.
Finney is looking for businesses and organizations to help sponsor additional fundraisers. You can contact her by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org (please put Oklahoma in the subject line), calling (239) 839-3114 (Between 8 a.m. 6 p.m. No texts, please) or via Facebook.
