Thanksgiving events, dinner options across CSRA

Thanksgiving is only a few days away. Here is a list of events taking place this week:

Monday, Nov. 21

9 a.m.: It's the annual James Brown Turkey Giveaway. This year, families had to have registered back in October to receive their turkey.
Those who registered should head over to Dyess Park on James Brown Blvd at 9a m.. Participants must have ID and a utility bill.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: The 11th Annual Italian Thanksgiving Feast will be held at The Garlic Clove Italian Eatery. There is no charge for the meal, but 100 percent of the donations are divided between the Golden Harvest Food Bank and the Columbia County Cares Food Pantry.
Some of the News 12 family will be there to help serve. Take out is also available. The event is being held at 4461 Washington Road in Evans. The menu: Homemade bread,antipasto salad, baked ziti with meat sauce, pasta with alfredo, chicken parmesan and a drink.

Tuesday, Nov. 22:

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: The T.W. Josey High School Class of 1994 and other alumni will be sponsoring their second annual "Feed the Community" Thanksgiving Dinner in the T.W. Josey High School cafeteria.
This dinner is being hosted to provide a service to the local community and is open to the general public. For additional information, contact Shonta Bradley at Bayvale Elementary School at (706) 737-7255.

5 p.m.: The New Bethlehem Community Center will sponsor its Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner. The event will be held in the Activity Building at 1332 Conklin Avenue in Augusta. A traditional Thanksgiving meal will be served. For more information and to volunteer, call (706) 722-0086.

Thursday, Nov. 24

11 a.m.: The entire community is invited to join Lincolnton United Methodist Church (UMC) for "Turkey 'n' Blessin'" on Thanksgiving Day.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Fort Gordon dining facilities will be serving Thanksgiving dinner to approximately 6,000 soldiers, family members, retirees and their families. The times for the dining facilities for Thanksgiving Day are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Soldiers will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Retirees and families are welcome and requested to come after 12:30 p.m. In preparation for the festivities, the dining facilities staff will prepare about 1,500 pounds of turkey, 800 pounds of ham, 1800 pounds of pumpkins and 360 pounds of shrimp.

11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Harvest Table CTFK (Churches together for kids) will be providing a free community Thanksgiving Day meal. You can dine in or carry out. Call 564-7773 for more information.This will be held at 231 Main St. South in Wagener.
