AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The first Black Friday store is opening is just seven hours away. Kmart will be the first to open it's doors followed by dozens of others throughout the day Thursday.

As the busiest shopping days of the year get closer store employees have been busy getting ready. They've spent days stacking shelves and unloading trucks.

"The next 3 days are the busiest days of the whole year," said Kmart manager Bill Long.

This year will be Long's 35th Black Friday at Kmart and it comes with some changes.

"This is the first year we've done the triple doorbuster. Before we closed and reopened. This year we're gonna stay open 24 hours," explained Long.

Stores all over the area are opening up early .

"Everybody's opening up a couple hours earlier trying to beat everybody else as far as getting the sales," said Long.

Kmart is first starting at 6am Thanksgiving day.

"Passing put tickets at 6am and then we'll pass out another tickets at 7pm for another doorbuster," said Long.

They'll pass out more at 6am Friday.

Across town store manager Paul Askew is making sure everything's runs smoothly at the Walmart in Evans.

"Right now we're unboxing the merchandise, we're wrapping it, we're separating it by the location it's going to be in and just making sure everything's ready to go," said Askew.

They'll open up at 6pm Thursday. Askew says, "The second event will be Thursday 8pm and the third event will be 8am Friday morning."

But the early hours aren't the only thing that's changed. Askew says, "The last couple years it's become more organized."

With lines and balloons marking the spot the mad rush inside some stores has calmed down a bit, but no matter how organized the stores get Long says you can always expect to see some chaos.

"It's hectic. You see people grabbing, trying to put a trampoline in a shopping cart that won't work. It's just crazy," said Long.
