AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Salvation Army of Augusta announced today that Angel Tree Christmas Assistance Applications will be accepted from Oct. 3 to 28.
This year, there are two major changes to the process.
First, Angel Tree Christmas Assistance Applications will be accepted on an appointment-only basis. This change was made to minimize the amount of time those seeking Christmas assistance have to wait to have their application reviewed. To schedule an appointment, please call (706) 922-8330.
Second, Angel Tree Christmas Assistance Applications will be accepted at The Salvation Army of Augusta's First Stop Center at 1765 Broad St. In previous years, the applications were taken at The Salvation Army of Augusta's Center of Hope on Greene Street.
The Salvation Army of Augusta's Angel Tree Christmas Assistance Program is an annual tradition that provides toys for thousands of needy area children 12 years old and under. Food boxes are also provided for households not currently receiving food stamps and who meet income guidelines. Toys collected for applicants will be distributed on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at a location to be announced.
Those wishing to receive Angel Tree Christmas Assistance from The Salvation Army of Augusta should first call (706) 922-8330 to schedule an appointment.
Once an appointment is made, applicants should bring the following items to their appointment at The Salvation Army of Augusta's First Stop Center at 1765 Broad St.:
We do not guarantee you will receive the items but can make suggestions to the donors.
If the general public would like more information about Angel Tree Christmas Assistance Applications, they may call a First Stop Center staff member at (706) 922-8330.
