AUGUSTA, Ga. -- A local group is collecting and distributing free prom dresses for its "Prom-A-Palooza" event.
Marily Norris, first vice president of Cher's Sisters Only Club, said they have collected over 100 prom dresses so far.
"We're still trying to get the word out for the girls to make an appointment to pick out the dress they want for free," Norris said.
Norris told News 12 they are still looking for dress donations before the free dress giveaway on March 17. Prom-A-Palooza will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day.
"These dresses, some handmade jewelry, purses and shoes are like new!" Norris said.
Norris encourages any young ladies looking to make prom more affordable this year to make an appointment to pick out a free dress.
