NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control inspected the North Augusta Splash Pad on Monday and said the facility did not pass the inspection.
Inspectors found problems with signage and with the machines controlling how much chlorine is in the water. The pad is classified as a pool so it must meet sanitary rules.
DHEC said it is working with the city and the contractor to get the splash pad open as soon as possible. They are still waiting on the permit applications to be approved.
Leaders were hoping to have the facility, located within Summerfield Park, open before school started.
