AUGUSTA, Ga. -- October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. One local organization has several events to help people remember the victims of domestic violence.
On Saturday, you can donate your unwanted cell phones to victims for calls to 911 and for fundraising efforts. The phones can be donated at the Walmart on Deans Bridge Road from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Wednesday is the day to Paint the Town Purple. SafeHomes is asking everyone wear purple that day to show their support and to bring awareness to domestic violence prevention.
They will wrap up their events with the 5th Annual Survivor’s Walk on Oct. 27. The walk is in partnership with Augusta State University. The walk will be held by the fountain on ASU’s campus beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening is to honor all victims and survivors. Testimonies will be shared along with a balloon release.
