AUGUSTA, Ga. -- An Augusta bridge officially has a new name, as of Wednesday morning.

The city dedicated the bridge on Greene Street between 15th and Broad streets, renaming it as the Pastor H.K. McKnight Sr. Bridge.

The bridge is named for the pastor who has been an important part of the Harrisburg community for years. McKnight founded the Bible Deliverance Temple 49 years ago. He is currently serving as pastor emeritus.

"Pastor McKnight is a man I have long admired and who I'm blessed to call my friend. His commitment to his faith, his family and the Harrisburg community has served as an inspiration for others to follow and this recognition is undoubtedly well deserved," said Mayor Deke Copenhaver.
