AUGUSTA, Ga. -- A blizzard in this July heat sounds perfect. Now is your chance to indulge and help out a great cause.

Dairy Queen is celebrating Miracle Treat Day to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. They are serving their delicious blizzards to raise cash for the for GHS Children's Medical Center.

One scoop at a time, Dairy Queen hopes to help doctors like George Harris at Georgia Health Sciences Children's Medical Center get their hands on fancy new equipment.

"I take little babies who have difficulty breathing, sometimes difficult swallowing or with their speech, and I evaluate their problem," Dr. Harris said.

Harris does that with the help of a $30,000 flexible fiber optic laryngoscope.

"Allows us to look through a little baby's nose and pass a camera down to their voice box and evaluate that area," he said. "It can be quite expensive."

The different parts can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000. Add a few attachments, and the scope can be worth up to a $100,000. The Children's Medical Center wants to purchase at least four more.

"I think everyone loves ice cream, and if you can eat ice cream and support children's wellness in the process, it's a win-win for everyone," Harris said.

During Miracle Treat Day, a $1 or more will go toward helping the hospital purchase more equipment with every blizzard you buy.

"It's huge. This is the greatest thing we can get," Harris said. "Technology plays a huge role in what we do because the little ones require we use small instruments."

Last year they raised $63,000 to keep up with new technology, and this year, they're asking you to eat more ice cream.
