AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Tareetha Flowers came home Monday and did what most people do when they get to the door.

"I put my key in the door and it felt loose, but I didn't think nothing of it," said Flowers.

She quickly realized something wasn't right after she put her bag on the dresser and went into her bedroom.

"I looked and I said my TV is gone," Flowers told News 12.

That wasn't the only thing missing. She noticed her son's bedroom was unlocked, and the door was cracked open.

"I looked and his television was gone and all his stuff was pulled down," she said.

Flowers says watches, cameras, money, and a GPS were all missing, but the most valuable may have been the family dog.

"Peanut my dog is like family to me man. To see him lying there blood coming out his mouth dead like that. It's just took everything out of me," Darrel Mims told News12.

Mims says it's still hard to believe someone could kill his chihuahua, but as we talked where Peanut's finals resting place is now, Mims has one message for the person who took his friend.

"The items. I can buy another TV. I can get some more watches and jewelry, but that was family," he said.

Mims is praying whoever did this does the right and turns themselves in. He says justice will prevail. He'll make sure of it.

"If they don't, we are not going to go away. We are going to get him," Mims told News12.
