AUGUSTA -- Richmond County Coroner Grover Tuten says a man working on equipment at DSM Chemicals came into contact with what is being called "live" electrical service.
The incident happened at around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at the plant on Lovers Lane.
Stacy A. Fincher, 41 years old from Saluda, S.C., was pronounced dead at 9:34 a.m. at GHS Medical Center's Emergency Room. According to DSM Chemicals, Mr. Fincher was a maintenance worker for Austin Industrial.
"Austin has full contingency plans to deal with such situations, and these have been activated," said a press release from Austin Industrial. "At this time, the company's first priority is the health and safety of the site's employees, immediate neighbors and our community."
The case is still under investigation by the coroner's office and by OSHA. No additional information will be released pending the results of the investigation.
