AIKEN, S.C. -- The City of Aiken is asking residents to start conserving water due to the lack of rainfall in the area. According to the release, the city has had to use the reserve water supply from the Mason Branch Reservoir.
They are asking both residents and businesses to cut back on the unnecessary use of water. If you use an irrigation system, you should only water every other day. Homes with odd numbers should water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Even numbered homes should only water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. No watering should take place on Sunday.
They say if we don’t receive rain soon to get things back to normal, and the voluntary conservation doesn’t help, they may be required to start mandatory water restrictions.
