BELVEDERE, S.C. -- Three children from Belvedere brought home medals and set statewide records after competing in the 2012 AAU Junior Olympics in Houston, Texas.

"It was my dream to do it, and now that I can compete against the world, it'll even give me a harder challenge," said Jackson Cooper.

Jackson, 11, already has a room full of medals and trophies for cup stacking. His siblings, 8-year-old Peyton and 5-year-old Brenna, are also working to have the same decor in their rooms.

"Practice till you reach your goal. You'll eventually reach it," Jackson said.

Last month the Cooper family traveled to Texas to compete with the best in the world.

"We wanted them to do well. We were competing against so many different nations as well as Jackson's group was one of the hardest groups," said their mother, Mary Cooper.

Peyton and Brenna are coached by their older brother, which is why Peyton won three bronze medals and Brenna took home a gold, a bronze and a sixth place medal.

"He coached me like it was a real tournament, and I had to do my best," Peyton said.

Jackson took home the gold alongside his friend Mark Seymour for the double stack competition.

"The hardest part is using one hand. Sometimes, if you mess up, you want to grab it with the other hand, so you can keep on stacking," Mark said.

Jackson finally became a member of Team USA after winning a bronze and two fourth place medals.

"Breaking the world record. That's hard. I haven't even done that in my practice, but I'm hoping to break it soon," Jackson said.
