AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta's ESi Ironman is getting national attention. Bloomberg spotlights the city and Mayor Deke Copenhaver.
It turns out Copenhaver has become the first U.S. mayor to complete all three legs of an Ironman sponsored triathlon in his own city.
News 12 spoke with the busy athlete who said it was more than fun and games.
"It's not only for my health that I'm training as much as I am on top of my schedule as mayor it is to promote the city. It is for me to get in there, roll my sleeves up and be part of moving the city forward and growing the local economy," said Mayor Copenhaver.
Copenhaver, 43, will be one of the 3,200 athletes taking to the streets on Sunday.
