Augusta is home to Giant's 'biggest fan'

AUGUSTA, Ga.--It's the biggest game of the year, and this year, the New England Patriots and New York Giants face off. But one Giant's fan who lives right here in Augusta, challenges anyone to prove they're a bigger fan.

"I think it'd be hard to find bigger Giant's fans than us," Darryl Leech says.

Like a lot of Augustans, Darryl likes to golf. But his golf gear tells its own story.

"This is my giants golf visor, and golf equipment. I even mark my ball with a Giant's ball marker. You can see my golf grips represent the New York Giants too," he tells News 12.

He's a Giant's fan through and through, adn he couldn't be more excited about tonight's match up.

"I think it's going to be an epic game."
He even managed to convert his wife, Katie, into a Giant's fan.

Katie says, " Unfortunately i was a redskins fan [before], I was in Virginia when we met, and he converted me."

Darryl is originally from Syracuse, New York, but he has cheered the Giants on from his home in Augusta for the past twenty years.

I asked him, "On a scale of 1-10, how big of a giants fan would you say you are?," he says, "Probably a 12."

And he has the stuff to prove it, from posters to t-shirts, even head rest covers in his car.

He says, "My wife has our Eli Manning signed helmet on the coffee table, and I have my coffee out of my Giants mug in the morning, and maybe a cold beer out of that mug later today."

He even has the seat covers from the first Superbowl the Giants played in
back in 1987.

"We flew there and went to that game, that was the first one we ever went to, he says."

And that isn't the only Superbowl Darryl's seen the Giants play. He says, "I've been to 3 out of the 4 giant's superbowls, and Katie's been to two. And the last one was absolutely the best one. We beat the Patriots."

He will never forget that big win back in 2008 as the Giants denied the Patriots an undefeated season, making their season record 18-1.
That history puts a lot of pressure on tonights game.

He says, "I think it may be looked at as one of the most epic rematches in the history of the Superbowl, absolutely."
