AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- It's a beautiful sunny afternoon in Aiken. Crowds line the streets as the Memorial Day Parade rolls on down the road, but celebrating the holiday isn't the only thing bringing people out. Connie's Framing, a local business, is also attracting people with drinks and snacks.

"We have popcorn and lemonade -- donations are to benefit the Oklahoma tornado victims," said Connie Rule.

Rule has lived in Aiken for 47 years but says she will never forget her home state of Oklahoma.

"I love it. I love the people, I love the climate -- love the atmosphere," she said.

Rule loves it so much that she visits once a year. Her family and friends in Oklahoma are safe after the F-5 tornado ripped through the city. However, despite the long distance, she still wanted to send help from Aiken -- no matter how big or small.

"We are also collecting money and selling bracelets -- all for the victims of the tornado," Rule said.

Money isn't the only thing Connie's Framing is taking up. They also taking up blankets, soaps, shampoos and conditioners -- anything that will help the folks in Oklahoma.

Rule says people in Aiken have been very supportive and says even though Aiken is far from Oklahoma, the community is very similar.

"It's like here. It's a small town -- everybody knows everybody. I can go out there and people know me -- I can be on our farm less than 15 minutes and people are driving up saying, 'Hey how have you been?'" Rule said.

She says the one thing that's different right now for folks in Oklahoma is they need help.

"They need everything, so if anyone is willing donate, we will make sure it gets out there to them," she said.

Rule says she will keep on collecting donations as long as she keeps hearing about the needs of the people of Oklahoma.
