If you're still waiting to buy school supplies, you might want to wait until next weekend. That's when you can buy most everything your child needs for school tax-free.
From laptops to loose-leaf binders, if it's a school supply, you can buy it tax-free the first weekend of August in both Georgia and South Carolina.
The idea is to give parents a financial break in getting their kids ready to start school.
In Georgia, the holiday starts on August 2nd and in South Carolina, it starts on the 3rd. Both days end on the 5th.
From paper to pencil and shirts to shoes, if your child needs it for school, you can buy it tax free.
Sales tax in most of the area is 7 percent. That means, for every hundred dollars, you'll save 7 bucks.
And just so you know, a retailer cannot refuse to participate in the holiday. If they do, you need to contact the Department of Revenue in the state you made your puchase in.
