NORTH AUGUSTA, SC--A 14-year-old boy is home from the hospital after someone shot him in his own bed a week ago today. Someone fired almost two dozen rounds in the 500 block of Bradly Drive, hitting Michael Wilson in the leg while he was asleep. Today, he tells his story exclusively to News 12.

He's trying to recover both mentally and physically, and he's hoping that one day he will be able to walk once again.

Michael Wilson sits in a wheelchair, with a leg wrapped in bandages he can't even feel. Michael's mother, Linda Bowens, says one of the 21 rounds that flew through their house shattered part of her son's hip. Additionally, the nerve is damaged so severely he can't even move part of his foot.

"I just hope they catch the people that did this to my child. He's in a lot of pain, and it's uncalled for." Linda said.

The shooting happened a little after three in the morning last Monday. Michael's father remembers several vehicles pulling up, one man asking another if they're at the right house, and then, hearing gunfire.

"I was laying in the bed, and i heard a lot of noise. And when I woke up, I was shot." Michael said.

Shots went through the outer walls, through the living room, and into Michael's bedroom. One hit the window just above his bed, and the other hit his leg.

"I was on the floor lookin' at my leg, and my sister ran in there, and was like 'you was shot.' "

Lateasha Wilson, who's expecting a child of her own, ran to her brother as soon as the gunfire stopped.

"He said the pain is so bad, I can't even cry." Lateasha said.

"I was lookin' at my leg and all that blood, and it was hurtin.'" Michael said.

Now, Michael's family is helping him heal from the fear he feels whenever he sees his his bedroom, and from the gunshot wound that left him in a wheelchair.

"We just wanna know why someone would shoot through my home. It could have killed all my kids in my house." Michael's mother said.

Linda says she's thankful everyone made it out alive. Michael has had one surgery, and he needs another. His mother says if there is enough nerve damage, Michael may not walk again.
