Change of command at Fort Gordon

July 17, 2007

FORT GORDON, Ga.---After a change of command ceremony this morning, Fort Gordon is under new leadership.

Brigadier General Randy Strong turned over command to Brigadier General Jeffrey Foley.

Gen. Strong has been in charge of Fort Gordon for the past two years.

The new general says he and his wife are excited about being back in Augusta.

"Well, I've served here two times before, most recently four years ago, when I left as a Chief of Staff," Gen. Foley said. "And Beth and I are absolutely thrilled to be back to Augusta and Fort Gordon. We love this post, we love this town. And we love everything that happens in this Central Savannah River Area."

Basically, Gen. Foley and Gen. Strong are switching jobs. Gen. Strong is headed to Washington, where Gen. Foley has just served.

Gen. Foley was Chief of Staff at Fort Gordon from 2001 to 2003.
