LANHAM, Md.---Lt. Christopher Engram of Middlesex County, New Jersey confirms that an Augusta man missing for two weeks has been found in Maryland.

Carl Leroy "Red" Tompkins was last seen by his family on June 24 when he boarded a bus. His luggage later arrived in Augusta, but Tompkins was nowhere to be found.

His family retraced his steps to try and locate him.

This afternoon, Joy Kerney, Director of Case Management at Doctor's Hospital in Lanham, Maryland, called Mr. Tompkins' friend and former landlord, Marlene Johnson, to let her know that he had been at the hospital for 13 days and had been confused. Lanham is between Washington, DC and Baltimore.

Mr. Tompkins' sister, Betty Crews, tells News 12 that he fell ill somewhere between New York and Washington, but no one at either stop reported seeing anyone sick. She says she spoke with Mr. Tompkins on the phone, and while he remembers who he is and who his family is, he does not remember what happened or how he ended up in the hospital.

Crews says the family plans to join him at the hospital this evening and take him back to New Jersey with them once he is released.
