AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Department of Labor held their biggest job fair so far this year at the Augusta State University Sports Complex today, and several hundred people showed up looking for a job.

Before the doors could even open at 10 o'clock, a line of more than 500 people had already wrapped around the building.

Martha Anderson was one of them. This single mother of three says she's been out of work since October, and was laid off because she missed too many days caring for her disabled son.

"It's been real hard, almost losing my car...lost everything because I don't have a job," she said.

With more than 70 companies sitting under one roof for the fair, Anderson thought this would be the end to all her problems, but she says she was wrong.

Judging by the number of people who showed up, she's not the only one out of work.

Augusta is ranked in the top three for the highest number of people without a job in Georgia.

Tabitha Evans says she just graduated from school with a marketing degree and had no idea it would be this hard to find work.

"It's competitive," she said. "This business is cutthroat. Someone has to know you, or you have to know someone."

Anderson visited table after table, but said she didn't have any luck.

"I'm not going to give up," she said. "I'm going to keep going."

If you missed today's job fair, you can always go to the Augusta Career Center at 601 Greene Street in Augusta to find a listing of available jobs in the area. You can also search jobs at the Department of Labor's website.

Part of the problem is this AT WILL STATE, EMPLOYERS HOLD THAT OVER YOUR HEAD. YOU GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO DISCRIMINATE,VIOLATE AND THREATEN EMPLOYEES. It's a no win situation! So they hire you and decide for any reason necessary or no reason at all they no longer want to keep and your terminated. I pray everyone finds a job.
