News 12 First at Five, May 30, 2007
AUGUSTA, Ga.---All of the five Richmond County graduations set for tomorrow are special, but one stands out because of the father who's come nearly seven thousand miles to see his son take that walk.
Charity Cruz and her 15-year-old daughter Christina were by far the two most anxious people at the airport, waiting for a husband and a father.
Then the happy moment came.
Sergeant First Class Edwin Cruz from Fort Gordon has been in Iraq since August. Now he's back in the arms of his wife and daughter.
But there's more to this mission. The next stop is TW Josey High School, where 18-year-old Edwin Junior is attending graduation practice.
Words aren't needed for what comes next.
Soon a gym-full of grads-to-be joins the welcome.
Cruz is home for two weeks of R&R. It's a time of celebration and family time too...time to catch up after months apart.
The family is together again for one of life's precious moments.
The TW Josey graduation is at 11 am tomorrow in James Brown Arena. What a day for SFC Cruz, his son, and the family.
