AIKEN, S.C.--The hot sun didn't keep anyone away this Labor Day holiday. Hundreds gathered for Aiken's 6th annual Hard Labor Day BBQ cook-off. The cook off was from 11:00 to 1:00 Monday afternoon in downtown Aiken, all to support the United Way of Aiken.

Chief Charles Barranco with the Aiken Dept. of Public Safety enjoys the event every year, saying, "I like seeing everybody that's in town, fellowshipping, and of course you can't fellowship without some good food."

While music played and the sun shined, barbecue pittmasters competed for prizes and bragging rights, all in the name of a good cause.

Chris Fulmer, competing with Ultimate Tailgaters BBQ says, "We're here to help the city of Aiken out, so I hope we have a lot of people out here and help united way raise a lot of money."

But, along with raising money for the United Way of Aiken County, these pitt masters are also here to take home some hardware and bragging rights. Many of these teams compete professionally all year long.

The hard Labor Day barbeque has been a tradition since 2008.
