NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.---They're trading in their guns and badges for menus and serving trays.

North Augusta Public Safety officers and other local law enforcement agencies are joining forces to raise money for Special Olympics South Carolina. They're working as waiters and waitresses to earn tips for the organization. The fundraiser will be going out throughout April and May.

Tonight North Augusta officers were at Fire Mountain Grill. They talked with us about why it's so important to help out the Special Olympics.

"This cause sends athletes to the Olympics for special needs people, and we do anything we can to support that cause," said Officer Verne Sadler.

The money officers get in tips will go directly to Special Olympics South Carolina.

On April 6th and 7th, Aiken County deputies will be assisting servers during lunch and dinner at the Red Lobster near the Aiken Mall.
