THOMSON, Ga.---Few people can say their birthday is Christmas Eve, but there may only be one person in the world turning 125 years old on that day--and she lives in Thomson.
Ms. Alberta Davis lives with her granddaughter in Mcduffie County. They got the papers earlier this month from the social security office saying Ms. Davis was born on December 24, 1881.
If confirmed, it would make her the oldest person living...and maybe the oldest on record.
But her granddaughter, Meaner Turman, says it's just a blessing to have six generations living.
"This is the precious one of all, because she cared for me from the time that I was 8 up until 16, I was up under her care," Turman said. "And I thank God that I can give her some of the care that she gave me, because if it wasn't for her when I couldn't do for myself, I would not be where I am today."
Of course there will be a big family birthday bash on Sunday for Ms. Davis.
We'll let you know if she is confirmed the oldest woman in the world.
1881 is the year President James Garfield was assassinated. It's also the same year Pablo Picasso was born.
