Georgia neighborhood grows film weary

Wednesday August 25, 2010

ATLANTA (AP) -- Residents of an Atlanta neighborhood that's been
the backdrop for at least four movies and television shows say
they're tired of being a Hollywood favorite.

Since Georgia introduced film industry tax credits, the movie
business has exploded in metro Atlanta.

Residents along Ridgewood Road tell WSB-TV that at least six
different production companies have shot movies or television shows
along their street since the beginning of the year.

There's no evidence the companies haven't filled out the proper
permits or aren't obeying the law. But residents like Mary Kay
Kilgore say planes parked in driveways and other large props are
getting old.

But others are happy the explosion has brought millions of
dollars in much-needed revenue for the state and production jobs.
