AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Heather Fearneyhough is 136 pounds lighter, and she did it all by herself.
Her secret? Eating clean.
"This was me four years ago, actually. I was about 254 [pounds]," Fearneyhough said.
The 24-year-old knew she had to make a change.
"My son, we were at the mall, and he took off running from me and I could not catch up to him, and that like sensation in my throat, that burning and panic -- I just knew -- OK Heather, you gotta do something," she said.
That's when she picked up "The Eat Clean Diet" by Tosca Reno. By making a few simple changes, she started to shrink.
"I started cutting out like all sugar, eliminating fast food, try to stay away from processed foods. This is a lifestyle change, it's not a diet. It's a way of life," she said.
The lifestyle she had before wasn't just hurting herself. It was affecting her family, too.
"She was struggling to get out of bed, and she was struggling to do daily activities and chores, and so it felt like I was taking on most of the load," her husband, Matthew Fearneyhough, said.
By changing her eating habits and working out five to six days a week, Fearneyhough changed her own life.
"I wanted to be the mom to be able to go out and play with them and not be stuck on the couch and sick all the time," she said.
She says her body isn't the only thing that has improved.
"[I'm] not sick anymore, and I'm so full of energy and my confidence has just skyrocketed. Our relationship has improved, our marriage has gotten stronger," she said happily.
"I just really think as a family, it's the best choice that we've ever made. I tell ya, I couldn't be a more proud husband, and I'm one lucky guy," he husband said with a smile.
Heather wasn't overweight until she had back-to-back pregnancies. She says she gained 80 pounds with her first and another 45 pounds with the second.
She said that was one of the hardest parts for her to deal with since she wasn't overweight before.
