AIKEN CTY., S.C. – Savannah River Remediation is helping fund seasonal flu shots in Barnwell and Allendale counties by donating $5,000. The flu shots are being made available to senior citizens and low-income citizens who qualify. Approximately 240 flu vaccines will be covered by the donation.
The program is being handled through the Low Country Health Care System and the shots will be given at 333 Revolutionary Trail, Fairfax (Allendale County) and 86 Wren Street, Barnwell (Barnwell County).
Dave Olson, SRR President and Project Manager, said, "Citizens who live in these areas are great people who lost their jobs through no fault of their own. We want to make it possible to keep them as healthy as we can as they work their way back toward recovery."
Ashley L. Barnes, Director of Technology and Finance of Low Country Health Care System, added that the donation is timely as budgets continue to be tight for organizations that administer health care.
