Raccoon tests positive for rabies after attacking dog

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- A raccoon has tested positive for rabies after attacking a dog in Columbia County.

The attack happened near Gay Road just north of Harlem on July 13. The raccoon tested positive on Wednesday.

Back in April, a raccoon tested positive for rabies after being found near Old Blythe Road near Harlem.

Health officials in Columbia County are asking residents to make sure their animals are vaccinated against rabies.
