ATLANTA (AP) -- Attorney General Sam Olens is starring in a new public service advertisement about the dangers of improperly using prescription drugs.
Olens says it's essential to educate citizens about the dangers lurking in medicine cabinets to combat the growing problem of prescription drug abuse.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported there was a 10 percent increase in prescription drug related deaths in 2010, and researchers say the abuse is particularly prevalent among teens.
Olens says in the ad that the most dangerous drugs don't come from drug dealers and aren't made in labs. Instead, he says, "they come from our own medicine cabinets." He urges viewers to dispose of pills properly and safely, and encourages parents to talk to their kids about the problem.
