AUGUSTA -- Thousands of pounds of ground beef have been recalled that could have been on its way to your child's lunchroom.

Approximately 40,000 pounds of beef have been recalled for possible E. coli contamination. The meat was supposed to be served in at least six school districts in Georgia.

The U.S. Department of Labor says it is not aware of the beef being served in any school lunches.

Neither the beef company, Palo Duro Meat, nor the USDA have received any reports of illnesses from the contamination.

The products subject to the recall include the 'B740-lb boxes containing four 10-pound chubs of fine ground beef. Each case bears "Est. 7282" inside the USDA mark of inspection and a production code of 19110.

Consumers can contact the company's Vice President Trevor Caviness at (806) 372-5781.
