AUGUSTA, Ga (WRDW) -- In recognition of national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Breast Health Center at Georgia Regents Medical Center is offering Saturday mammograms in October.
Women may schedule a routine mammogram beginning October 5th or any other Saturday in October between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. by calling 706-721-XRAY (9729).
Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death among women, exceeded only by lung cancer. Statistics show that one in eight women will develop breast cancer sometime in her lifetime.
If detected early, the five-year survival rate is 97 percent. The American Cancer Society recommends an annual mammogram paired with a clinical breast exam for women 40 and older.
The Breast Health Center is located on the first floor of the Medical Center at 1120 15th St.
