ATLANTA (AP) — Health officials in Georgia are participating in a new program to try to understand what triggers caregivers' stress so professionals can make caring for a loved one easier.
The program is called Tailored Caregiver Assessment and Referral, or TCARE, and is a collaboration between the Georgia Department of Human Services and the University of Wisconsin.
The program includes a six-step model that works to identify and address the caregiver's needs so that person can more effectively care for himself and others.
Four states -- Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota and Washington -- helped a researcher at the University of Wisconsin conduct studies on TCARE protocols.
Georgia's aging network plans to launch TCARE statewide by training care managers to use the six-step model when working with consumers.
