AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Dough Welch has been chosen to be the new Chief Executive Officer at Doctors Hospital.
Welch has been in the health care industry for over 20 years, with his most recent appointment being the CEO of HCA’s Medical Center of Lewisville in Lewisville, Texas. Before that, he was the CEO of Las Colinas Medical Center in Irving, Texas.
He has a master’s degree in health administration from the Medical College of Virginia. He received his bachelor's in science from Furman University.
"We are pleased to have Doug join Doctors Hospital. I believe his experience and drive will be tremendous assets to both Doctors Hospital and the Augusta area," said Michael Joyce, President of HCA's North Florida Division.
Welch will begin at Doctors Hospital Oct. 1. He will be moving to the area with his wife, Amanda, and their son, Ben.
"I can't express how much my family and I look forward to this new adventure," Welch said. "Doctors Hospital is one of the best in the region and I look forward to working with the physicians, employees, volunteers to continue Doctors tradition of providing outstanding patient care and serving its community. I'm eager to get settled in Augusta and become a part of the hospital family as well as the Augusta community."
