ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Public Health says the first case of fungal meningitis has been confirmed in Georgia.
The patient is a 65-year-old woman from Bibb County who received an injection prepared by the New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts. She is said to be stable at this time.
According to the DPH, at least two other drugs are being investigated by the FDA: an ophthalmic drug used in eye surgery and a cardioplegic used in heart surgery.
