VAUCLUSE, S.C. -- The Valley Public Service Authority has issued a boil water advisory for the Vaucluse area of Aiken County.
According to the release, there will be a loss of pressure and service on Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. This is due to the relocation of a water main to accommodate DOT repairs.
The interruption on Thursday may or may not contaminate of the system but due to a loss of pressure, they say the potential for contamination exists. They are telling customers to use precautionary measures and vigorously boil water for at least one full minute before drinking or using for cooking once service is restored and until notified otherwise. They also warn that any ice made from water which has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.
The authority is working with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control to handle the situation.
