Body identified

A man whose body was found in the 1600 block of Gordon Highway has been identified. Richmond County coroner Grover Tuten tells News 12 the next of kin has not been notified yet.

Preparing students for the CRCT

Every Richmond County elementary and middle school student must take it: the Criterion Referenced Competency Test, or CRCT. It determines if the student will be promoted to the next grade. But preparing for the test may not be so easy for a child without the right tools.

Augusta Red Cross offers free CPR training

On March 25, 2006 the American Red Cross of Augusta will host a “Free CPR Saturday.” The event will be held at Abilene Baptist Church, located at 3917 Washington Road from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The four hour training will provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to perform rescue breathing, abdominal thrusts and CPR on adults. Upon completion of the free CPR training, participants will take a written exam and receive a certification card.

Missing inmate found

In Augusta, the missing state prisoner who disappeared Thursday night is back behind bars. Darrell Crowder was working a shift at Schlotzsky’s on a work release from Augusta’s Transitional Center when he was reported missing.

Manhunt in Aiken County

The Aiken County sheriff's office is still searching for Chris Arthur of Warrenville. Arthur is wanted in connection to several burglaries in this area, off of Springwood Loop and Howlandville Road.

Ascauga Lake Road fire

A house fire is to blame for blocking off Ascauga Lake Road in Aiken County Saturday night. The owner of the house showed up on his bike as firefighters chopped holes in the roof to let out some of the smoke and heat.

A soldier remembered

Soldiers at Fort Gordon remembered a fellow soldier and friend today. There was a memorial this morning for Sergeant Marques Allen of the 345th Military Intelligence Battalion.

Shots ring out at Augusta high school

The week ends with shots ringing out at Glenn Hills High School. The Richmond County Board of Education says someone fired from the window of a vehicle that was leaving the campus at about 2:30 Friday afternoon.
