AIKEN, S.C. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson is meeting with employees of the Savannah River Site to talk about furloughs resulting from federal budget cuts.
The Republican is holding a town hall meeting Friday at the University of South Carolina Aiken.
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions is the largest contractor at the sprawling facility that used to make nuclear weapon components and where work now is focused on research and cleanup. Earlier this year, SRNS president and CEO Dwayne Wilson said about 2,000 workers would be working reduced schedules due to budget cuts.
Officials said they didn't know how long the reductions would be in place.
