ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- Anderson County sheriff's deputies are trying to identify a toddler left on a doorstep.

A girl appearing to be between 2 and 3 years of age was left on the doorstep of a home late Tuesday.

She was wearing a Dora the Explorer coat and boots and a shirt and diaper with a handwritten note to call authorities.

Roy Campbell says he doesn't know why the toddler was left in a stroller at his home.

The child has been placed into protective custody and is staying with foster parents. Sheriff's deputies say a medical exam showed no problems, but scarring indicated the young girl had been through heart surgery.

Deputies were still looking for the girl's parents late Thursday morning.
